                     Indian taxpayers may have lost as much as Rs. 3.8 lk crore in scams in the power, aviation and coal sectors over the past eight years, the country's state auditor said in reports tabled before Parliament.

      The Auditor General charged the government with allotting coalfields and land for power projects and Delhi’s airport to private firms at a fraction of the market price, bringing the corruption issue back under the spotlight and sparking Opposition calls for PM Manmohan Singh to quit.

In its report CAG has alleged that provisions for operationalising the public private partnership for developing the Delhi airport were "more skewed in the favour of the concessionaire."

        "With an equity contribution of Rs 2,450 crore out of which the private consortium's share was Rs 1813 crore, DIAL has got a brownfield airport for 60 years and in addition, commercial rights of land valued at Rs 24,000 crore with a potential earning capacity, according to its own estimates of Rs 1,63,557 crore," the national auditor said.
